The Station Area/Sutphin Blvd and Parsons Boulevard/Archer Avenue area are the key gateways to the downtown as well as to the current and future large-scale development. GJDC has provided a wide range of streetscape horticulture enhancements including:

  • The installation of hayracks located 8-10 feet off the ground on light poles which are maintained and watered on a regular basis by GJDC staff with a special watering truck and contain Ivy, Geraniums, and other colorful plants.
  • The installation of planters with small trees, shrubs, and seasonal flowers that have been placed on sidewalks and medians throughout the downtown (on Sutphin and Parsons Boulevard)
  • GJDC maintains two Greenstreet improvements for NYC DOT; one at Parsons Boulevard and the other on Archer Avenue near the LIRR.
  • GJDC has initiated tree planting efforts throughout the downtown.
